Notice from the

St. Mary’s Past Students’ Association – Council (College)

Nomination and Election of Alumni Manager

 

In accordance with Section 40AP of the Education Ordinance (Cap. 279), the Canossian Missions, sponsoring body of St. Mary’s Canossian College (SMCC), recognised the St. Mary’s Past Students’ Association (SMPSA) – Council (College) as the alumni body for the purpose of nominating an Alumni Manager for the Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) of SMCC.

A.  Call for nomination for the election of Alumni Manager

In accordance with Section 4 of the SMPSA Regulations for Election of Alumni Manager for the IMC of SMCC (the Regulations for Election), the SMPSA – Council (College) now calls for nomination for the election of one Alumni Manager for serving the IMC of SMCC for the term of 2017-2019. Nomination period will run from 3 June 2017 to 17 June 2017 (both dates inclusive). Details of the nomination, including the Regulations for Election and nomination form, are available on the SMPSA website (English only) at <http://www.stmaryspsa.org>.

B.  Election of Alumni Manager

Notice is hereby given that the election of Alumni Manager for the IMC of SMCC will be held on 15 July 2017 (Saturday), from 10am to 4pm, at St. Mary’s Canossian College (162 Austin Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong).

For the purpose of nomination and election of Alumni Manager, only alumni of SMCC are eligible for making nominations, being nominated and voting. As regards eligibility of alumni, the records of SMCC would be final.

Details & Procedures

The Alumni Manager will act as a manager of SMCC on a two-year tenure.

All alumni of SMCC aged 18 or above on the date of nomination are eligible to be candidates/proposers/seconders/voters in the election.

Candidature

  1. All alumni of SMCC are eligible to become candidates.
  2. An alumnus/alumna should not be nominated if he/she is a serving teacher of the school or if he/she does not meet the registration requirements of managers set out in Section 30 of the Education Ordinance (Cap.279).
  3. No manager shall serve in an IMC in more than one capacity.

Nomination 

  1. Nomination period runs from 3 June 2017 to 17 June 2017 (both dates inclusive).
  2. The Nomination Form, duly signed by one alumni proposer and one alumni seconder, should be delivered in person/by hand and dropped into the election post box placed in the General Office of SMCC (office opens from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).
  3. All alumni can be a proposer or seconder for only one candidate including herself.
  4. Name(s) of candidate(s) will be announced on website on 19 June 2017. If there is only one candidate in the election, the said candidate shall be considered uncontested.

Election

  1. Polling will be conducted on 15 July 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the school hall of St. Mary’s Canossian College (SMCC).
  2. Voters should bring along their identity cards or passports and indicate their years of attendance at SMCC for verification at the polling station. In case of disputes, the records maintained by SMCC shall be final.
  3. Counting of votes shall commence immediately after the close of polling.
  4. The result shall be announced immediately after the close of the count and be uploaded onto the SMPSA website by 17 July 2017 the latest.
